Cole Thompson, PhD
Assistant Director, Green Section Research for the US Golf Association
Dr. Cole Thompson is the assistant director of Green Section Research for the United States Golf Association. Cole assists with the administration of the Green Section’s Turfgrass and Environmental Research Program, coordinates with USGA-funded scientists, and identifies research areas that have potential to improve playing conditions and golf course management sustainability. He earned a B.S. degree in agriculture, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in horticulture from Kansas State University. Prior to joining the USGA, Cole conducted turfgrass research, extension, and teaching activities as an assistant professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.
