Alex B. Heeb
Director of the Turtle Race Task Force
Alex Heeb is an amateur naturalist and advocate for wildlife conservation. A high school science fair project radio tracking box turtles in the hills of Southeast Missouri led to a particular passion for turtles and tortoises, which – as world’s most endangered group of animals – are particularly in need of effective conservation action. Since 2019 he has been the Director of the Turtle Race Task Force, an organization devoted to stoping the animal neglect and environmental damage associated turtle races at fairs and festivals. He continues to reside in his native Missouri, where he works as a computer engineer. He can often be found toting his telescope to a dark site or cycling when not engaged in other endeavors.
